Let's jump in and discover together!

What are Player Prop Bets?

Player prop bets, often called “props,” focus on individual players' actions rather than the overall game result. They're popular in various sports, especially in baseball. In the MLB, these bets zoom in on specific player achievements such as hits, strikeouts, home runs, etc.

Hunter Greene U 8.5 Strikeouts (-150) (DraftKings) | Player Prop

Our first player prop for today's games is Hunter Greene under 8.5 strikeouts.

Greene has gone under this line in 16 of 18 games this season, averaging 6.4 strikeouts per game.

Despite facing the Rockies, a team that ranks 4th in strikeouts per game, Greene's history against high-strikeout teams suggests this line is still overly ambitious.

This season Greene has gone under against teams like the Mariners (1st in strikeouts), Pirates (5th), Cubs (8th), and Tigers (10th), all of whom rank in the bottom ten for strikeouts per game. Even when facing teams with high strikeout rates, Greene has still gone under this high line.

Furthermore, over the last ten games, the Rockies are averaging 8.1 strikeouts per game, the 18th highest in the league, which is 13.8% lower than their season average of 9.4. This downward trend in strikeouts further strengthens the case for Greene going under today.

In summary, despite Greene's matchup against the Rockies, the data indicates that this line is set too high.

Tanner Houck U 5.5 Hits Allowed (-125) (DraftKings) | Player Prop

The next player prop catching our attention is Tanner Houck under 5.5 hits allowed.

Houck has gone under this line in six of the last ten games. In three of the games where he went over, he faced tough opponents: the Phillies (2nd), Padres (3rd), and Brewers (5th). These teams rank in the top five for hits recorded per game, making his performance more understandable.

Tonight, Houck faces the Oakland A’s, who record the 4th fewest hits per game in the MLB. This matchup is favorable for Houck, considering his previous performance against the A’s this season, where he allowed just three hits over six innings.

Given Houck’s performances this season, we like the under for Houck tonight.

Austin Riley O 1.5 Total Bases (+115) (BetMGM) | Player Prop

The next player prop for tonight’s games is Austin Riley over 1.5 total bases.

Riley has surpassed this line in seven of the last ten games, including seven of the eight games against right-handed pitchers.

Throughout the season, Riley has consistently performed better against right-handed pitchers, going over this line in 55% of such games, compared to just 22% against left-handed pitchers.

Tonight, Riley faces Brandon Pfaadt, whom he has already faced this season, recording three hits and four total bases in their previous matchup.

Considering Riley's recent form, his success against right-handed pitchers, and his previous performance against Pfaadt, we like the over for Riley tonight.

Two-leg Same Game Parlay (-110) (DraftKings)

Last but not least, it wouldn't be a Hall of Fame Bets blog post without utilizing the Parlay Optimizer to build a parlay for tonight’s slate. This parlay consists of these two legs from DraftKings:

This parlay has been successful in both head-to-head matchups. Vientos managed two hits in each game against Gore, who allowed 7 and 5 hits against the Mets in their respective outings.

Over the course of the season, this parlay has implied odds of -130, but with DraftKings offering it at -110 odds, the value presented makes this parlay too enticing to pass up.
