Let's jump in and discover together!

What are Player Prop Bets?

Player prop bets, often called “props,” focus on individual players' actions rather than the overall game result. They're popular in various sports, especially in baseball. In the MLB, these bets zoom in on specific player achievements such as hits, strikeouts, home runs, etc.

David Peterson U 2.5 Earned Runs (-180) (Caesars) | Player Prop

Our first player prop for today's games is David Peterson under 2.5 earned runs.

Peterson has gone under this line in seven of eight games this season, averaging 1.9 earned runs per game.

Tonight, Peterson faces the Marlins, who score the 2nd fewest runs per game in the MLB.

Although Peterson allowed four runs to Miami earlier this season, he held them to zero and one run in two matchups last year.

Given these factors, we favor his under for tonight.

Blake Snell O 1.5 Earned Runs (-155) (DraftKings) | Player Prop

The next player prop catching our attention is Blake Snell over 1.5 earned runs.

Snell has surpassed this line in six of eight games this season, averaging 3.1 earned runs per game.

Tonight, Snell faces the Dodgers, who score the most runs per game in the MLB.

Over the last two seasons, Snell has exceeded this line in three of his four games against the Dodgers.

Given these factors, we strongly favor the over for tonight.

Spencer Arrighetti O 1.5 Walks Allowed (-195) (DraftKings) | Player Prop

The next player prop for tonight’s games is Spencer Arrighetti over 1.5 walks allowed.

Arrighetti has exceeded this line in 94% of his games this season, including both matchups against Oakland, where he allowed two and three walks, respectively.

The A’s rank 12th in the MLB for most walks per game, while the only game where Arrighetti went under was against the Rockies, who rank 23rd in walks per game.

Given these factors, we strongly favor the over for tonight.

Two-leg Same Game Parlay (+146) (DraftKings)

Last but not least, it wouldn't be a Hall of Fame Bets blog post without utilizing the Parlay Optimizer to build a parlay for tonight’s slate. This parlay consists of these two legs from DraftKings:

This parlay has hit in each of the last three games for each pitcher. Lorenzen has gone under 5.5 hits allowed in 81% of his games this season and faces the White Sox, who record the 2nd fewest team hits in the league. Meanwhile, Chirinos has gone over 5.5 hits allowed in four of his last five games and faces the Mets, who record the 9th most hits per game in the league.

Over the course of the season, this parlay has implied odds of -186, but with DraftKings offering it at +146 odds, the value presented makes this parlay too enticing to pass up.
