NFL Futures Bets (2024-2025 Season)

Blog Post Image

Football is just around the corner and we could not be more excited!

As we look forward to the 2024 NFL season, it's time to look ahead and find some of the most promising futures bets that could bring you big returns. Whether you're a seasoned bettor or just looking to add some excitement to the upcoming season, these bets offer amazing value and intriguing potential. In this article, we'll dive into some standout futures bets that you should definitely keep an eye on. From MVP contenders to rising rookies and defensive powerhouses, we've got you covered. Let's get into it!

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Caleb Williams (+135) (DraftKings)

At this point, it is Williams against the field, and that is for a good reason. The first overall pick is in a great situation with the Chicago Bears, who made excellent business moves for their future over the past season. Originally holders of the number one pick in 2023, the Bears sent that pick to Carolina and in return got this year’s top pick and one of their breakout performers of the past season in D.J. Moore.

The Bears loaded up their offense in the offseason, adding veteran wideout Keenan Allen and drafting standout wide receiver Rome Odunze at ninth overall. Including Moore in the mix, the Bears have put together a strong set of targets for their young quarterback to throw towards, potentially giving him the best setup of any rookie quarterback expected to start this season.

His main competitors for the award, Jayden Daniels (+550) and Marvin Harrison Jr. (+650), both find themselves in more challenging situations for the upcoming season, which should play into the great potential Williams has to lock down this award early.

The Commanders are in the midst of a rebuild, meaning that the reigning Heisman winner Daniels will have to be individually great on a weaker team to keep himself in the race. MHJ is in a more favorable position but will need to put up numbers reminiscent of recent OROY winner Garrett Wilson to stay in the race with Williams.

Chicago has improved drastically on both sides of the football over the past year and should be in contention for a playoff spot this upcoming season. If the Bears are competitive and Williams performs up to his expectations, there should be no doubt that the USC product will bring home this award.

Defensive Player of the Year: TJ Watt (+550) (DraftKings)

Likely the most competitive of the main awards, this year’s DPOY race looks set to come down to two edge rushers: T.J. Watt of the Steelers and Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys. These two are currently tied for favorites for the award, but we see Watt as the front-runner in the race.

Since 2017, no player has recorded more sacks than Watt and arguably no player has been overlooked for this honor quite as much as him. He has led the league in sacks three times in his career, but despite this has only won this award once, coming back in 2021.

The biggest factor playing into Watt’s case for this award is that there should not be the same pressure for him to carry the Steelers' defense as he has had to in many years prior. The offseason acquisition of Patrick Queen should drastically improve their overall defense and in Watt’s case, give him more favorable matchups. In addition to this, Alex Highsmith is a great complementary piece, rushing off the opposite edge to Watt, which is another significant factor in teams’ ability to scheme against him.

Both statistically and in terms of what he means to the team, it is hard to argue there is a more important defensive player to any team than what Watt is to the Steelers. We expect him to replicate his great success of the past several years and rightfully end the season crowned as the DPOY.

NFL MVP: Josh Allen (+900) (DraftKings)

The MVP award often comes down to narratives and Josh Allen has the best chance to craft a winning one this season.

A finalist for the award in three of the past four years, Allen put up remarkable numbers last season, leading the league in total touchdowns and yards. More importantly, however, he contributed to winning football.

The Bills QB led seven go-ahead scoring drives in the fourth quarter and finished the regular season a strong 5-1 against teams that made the playoffs.

This season, he will have to do more with less, losing wide receiver Steffon Diggs, but Allen has managed well in these circumstances before. His unique ability to run the football will be highly important for his hopes, so it is good news that he is coming off a 15 rushing touchdown year.

With his contemporaries of the past several years having bigger question marks than in years past, Allen is the only one among them yet to have a true ‘breakthrough’ season and win the award, which can be massive for his case. Josh Allen can and should prove people wrong this year and walk away with his first MVP award.
